BLACK AUGUST BLACK MEMORY, #LetUsBreathe’s 10 Year Anniversary and Fundraisier, takes place on August 24, 2024 at Liberation Landing Campus from 1-7pm and includes visual installations, screenings, workshops, food, performances, and more.
BLACK AUGUST BLACK MEMORY is #LetUsBreathe’s first large-scale fundraiser since our founding in 2014. We’ve operated from the understanding, framework and practice of abundance over scarcity, and we are fortunate to have continued programming for 10 years with primarily volunteer labor, in-kind donations, and foundation grants. Since 2021, #LetUsBreathe has hired 2 staff members, who now co-direct the #BreathingRoom Space and lead our 6 programs: #EverybodyEats, Soul Service, #BreathingRoom Series, Pod Squad, and Open A.I.R.
The #BreathingRoom Space serves as an incubator for innovative activism and liberatory and cultural work in Chicago. A gift of any amount helps us build systems beyond policing for communities, produce cultural events, and build power in communities. All donations benefit the #LetUsBreathe Collective’s #BreathingRoom space — an arts, organizing, and healing hub on the South Side of Chicago.
Join us for a day of celebration, gratitude and reflection and support the #LetUsBreathe Collective in raising $10,000 to sustain our liberatory space, work and programming. Come through to honor the past and look towards the future.
